COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has announced a diverse batch of new concerts, including rapper Danny Brown in support of his upcoming album Atrocity Exhibition due out later this year. He’ll be joined by Maxo Kream and ZelooperZ at 8pm on Saturday, September 17. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $22 in advance; $25 at the door. Also coming soon at UCH are Frank Turner & the Sleeping Souls with Arkells and Will Varley at 8pm on Wednesday, November 2 ($22 in advance; $25 at the door), and the 10 Years in the Black Tour featuring headliners Asking Alexandria with Born of Osiris, I See Stars, After the Burial, Upon a Burning Body and Bad Omens at 6pm on Tuesday, November 15 ($25 in advance; $28 at the door).
Club Helsinki in Hudson welcomes back Justin Townes Earle at 9pm on Friday, September 9 ($25 & $35), and Chatham County Line celebrates Autumn with a CD release party at 9pm on Saturday, November 5 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door).
In Woodstock, Levon Helm Studios has pumped up its concert offerings with a pair of new top-notch shows. The Weight will be joined by special guests John Simon, Jackie Greene, Happy Traum and Larry Packer at 8pm on August 25 ($50) and singer-songwriters Billy Bragg and Joe Henry team up for an evening of music at 8pm on Friday, September 30 ($35 & $50).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Horror-rocker and filmmaker Rob Zombie is headed into Albany’s Palace Theatre in support of his new album, The Electric Warlock Acid With Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser. Zombie will be joined by DJ Ginger Fish. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (July 22).
Against Me roars into the Pearl Street Ballroom in Northampton at 8pm on Tuesday, September 27. Tickets go on sale on Friday (July 22), priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door.
Latin Grammy Award winner and one of the premier guitarists from Argentina, Quique Sinesi takes over the stage at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, September 17 with his unique blend of folk, tango, jazz and classical contemporary music. Tickets are on sale now priced at $15.
Down in Woodstock, the Bearsville Theater has bolstered its calandar with newly announced concerts by the David Bromberg Quintet at 8pm on Saturday, August 27 ($20, $35 & $45); the Wallflowers with Ragged Glory at 8pm on Friday, September 2 ($35, $48 & $58); and reggae legend Bunny Wailer at 9pm on Saturday, September 3 (ticket price TBA).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Thinking-man’s funny man Marc Maron brings his Too Real Tour (and his skewed sense of humor) to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for a stand-up comedy show. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (July 22).
Progressive roots reggae band John Brown’s Body returns to the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany at 9:30pm on Friday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $15 in advance; $18 at the door.
CANCELLED: Following the fiasco at Putnam Den last Thursday, the Michelle Shocked concerts that were originally scheduled at Putnam Den on Thursday (July 21) and Newberry Music Hall on Saturday, July 23 have both been cancelled.
CANCELLED: The Purple Xperience: A Celebration of the Music of Prince was originally scheduled for Albany’s Palace Theatre at 8pm on Friday, July 29, but the show has been cancelled.
CANCELLED: Sadly, there are a whole mess of cancellations on this week’s concert calendar. The California Honeydrops cancelled their show at Shepard Park in Lake George tonight (Wednesday, July 20), replaced by the High Rollers. Also cancelled: Joe Ely and the Cactus Blossoms at the Hangar on the Hudson in Troy on Friday (July 22), and Songhoy Blues at Club Helsinki in Hudson on Friday.
Bassh – the Nashville-based band featuring Jimmy Brown and CJ Hardee – takes the Jupiter Hall stage at Lucky Strike Social in Guilderland on Friday (July 22). Doors open at 7pm. Priced at $10, advance tickets are on sale now.
We previously announced that Rock and Roll Hall of Famer former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley and his band would be making a tour stop at the Upstate Concert Hall, but now it’s been revealed that he’ll also head into the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield for a concert at 8pm on Tuesday, September 27. Nashville-based rock trio Simo will open the show. Tickets to the Pittsfield show are $60.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Godfather of Shock Rock (and the frontman for the hottest new rock supergroup, the Hollywood Vampires) Alice Cooper is slated to make a return to the Palace Theatre in Albany. What’s on tap this time around. The hangman’s noose? The boa constrictor? The guillotine?
Singer, songwriter and one the great NYC troubadours, Garland Jeffreys leads his band into the Indian Lake Theater in Indian Lake at 7:30pm on Saturday, August 6. Tickets are $22 in advance; $25 at the door.
The Whiskey Treaty Roadshow rolls into Albany’s Madison Theater at 8pm on Saturday, September 10. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20.
