LIVE: Pape Diouf et La Génération Consciente @ Music Haven, 7/10/16

It seems as though it was only yesterday that Pape Diouf led his band La Génération Consciente in the opening concert of the 2016 Music Haven concert series in Schenectady’s Central Park. The torchbearer of Mbalax – a pulsating fusion of Western pop and sabar – served up a musical trip to Senegal and the Gambia, while Umoja African Dance & Drumming kicked off the evening and the excitement.

So it seems almost impossible that the summer has flown by and the traditional Celtic band Dervish wraps up the Music Haven season at 7pm on Sunday (August 14) with one last summertime sampling of international music. Matt & Shannon Heaton will open Sunday’s concert, and as always, admission is free.

UPDATE: Sunday’s season closing concert by Dervish has been moved to the Music Haven rain site – Proctors in Schenectady.
