FEST: Jazz in the Valley Returns to Poughkeepsie on Sunday

The 16th annual Jazz in the Valley festival takes over Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie on Sunday (August 21), and once again, the fest offers something for everyone with an impressive all-star line-up.
Sponsored by TRANSART, the single-day festival on the banks of the Hudson River features two stages – the Pavilion Stage with free admission, and the Main Stage with tickets priced at $50 in advance; $60 at the gate; $20 students. Gates open at 11am with music slated to run from 12noon til 6pm.

2pm: Jazz by 5 featuring Javon Jackson, Randy Brecker, Eddie Gomez, George Cables and Jimmy Cobb
3pm: Randy Weston & the African Rhythms Trio
4pm: Chico Alvarez & the Palomonte Afro-Cuban Big Band
PAVILION STAGE (FREE)
12noon: Slam Allen
1pm: The DCC Jazz Ensemble
2pm: Stephanie Hancock
3pm: Mike Torsone Memorial Band led by Matt Jordan
