LIVE: Gov’t Mule @ the Palace Theatre, 10/29/16

There was a massive Traffic jam at Albany’s Palace Theatre on Saturday night, but it was the kind of jam that you certainly don’t mind gettin’ stuck in…

As expected guitarslinger Warren Haynes and his band Gov’t Mule certainly tore it up during the first half of the night, but it was the second half of the concert that had fans truly chomped at the bit.

For their annual Mule-O-Ween celebration, Gov’t Mule was taking on a full set of jam-friendly tunes from the classic songbag of British jazz-rock pioneers Traffic. Kicking off with “Pearly Queen,” the band dug deep into the Traffic catalog and even took a slight detour with Dave Mason’s post-Traffic nugget, “Shouldn’t Have Took More Than You Gave.”

And as marvelous as the evening was, we’re even gonna give the Mule a few extra bonus points for avoiding the most obvious selection – “Feelin’ Alright.”
