Afro-Cuban music sensations Jane Bunnett & Maqueque will be making a tour-stop at the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy at 7pm on Monday (November 7).

Canadian jazz saxophonist-flutist-bandleader Bunnett and her band of five extraordinary young Cuban women will blow into town in support of their sophomore album, Oddara, released last month. The band’s 2014 self-titled debut CD was awarded the Juno Award for Best Group Jazz Album of the Year.

Maqueque’s fresh, inventive, no-compromise music earned the group a standing ovation at the Kennedy Center, a rare encore at the Chicago Jazz Festival, and four sold-out nights at Chicago’s legendary Jazz Showcase.

Now they’re coming to Troy for a pre-Election Day jolt of feel-good music. Tickets are available in advance online, as well as at the door for $15.
