“Star Trek” Convention Lands in Albany This Weekend

Beam me up, Scotty…

The original “Star Trek” television series is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, so the timing seems right for the Northeast Trek Con to take over Albany’s Radisson Hotel this weekend (Friday-Sunday, November 11-13).

The three-day convention will feature Trek merchandise for sale, a number of exhibits and, of course, an array of special guests, including Robert Picardo (the holographic doctor from “Star Trek Voyager”), Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys from “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”), Robin Curtis (Lieutenant Saavik in the “Star Trek” films III & IV) and lots more.

One of the things that sets the Northeast Trek Con apart from the usual sci-fi conventions is that it also places an emphasis on real-world science. Convention-goers can enjoy discussions and seminars on a variety of hi-tech topics, including high-energy physics, climate change, quantum computers, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, black holes, particle astrophysics experiments and more.

Single-day tickets are $40 for Friday or Sunday; $60 for Saturday pass. An all weekend pass is $80: $5 for teenagers; $20 for children.
