She’s been recognized as a mandolin prodigy since age 11 when she made her Grand Ole Opry debut with Allison Krauss.

Now at age 25, Sierra Hull has blossomed into a bona fide virtuoso, an impressive, nuanced vocalist and a mighty fine songwriter, as well.

Hull released her latest album, Weighted Mind, back in January, and 2016 has been a breakthrough year for her. Along the way, she was a featured performer at both of Greater Nippertown’s major bluegrass fests – Grey Fox and FreshGrass – before making her way to the spotlight at The Linda in Albany last weekend, where she was joined by dobro player Justin Moses and stand-out stand-up bassist Ethan Jodziewicz.

Host Michael Eck also served as the opening act for the evening, offering a solo set of tunes inspired by the writing of Raymond Carver.
