COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

The Cock ‘n Bull in Galway has announced a big batch of new shows stretching into the fall season. Highlights include My Darling Clementine at 7pm on Wednesday, April 12 ($15); Red Tail Ring at 8:30pm on April 28 ($15); Grant Gordy & Ross Martin at 7pm on Thursday, May 18 ($TBA); the Lonely Heartstring Band at 7pm on Sunday, May 28 ($TBA); Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys at 8:30pm June 9 ($10); Mile Twelve at 8:30pm on Friday, August 18 ($15); and Foghorn Stringband at 7pm on Wednesday, September 6 ($15).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Citizen Cope is making a return to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Tickets are on sale now.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg announced new concerts by Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam and Bobby Whitlock. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (March 17).
Last week we announced a solo acoustic concert by Richard Thompson at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, and that show promptly sold out. So a second show has been added for 8pm on Sat, July 15. Tickets are $45 & $60.
RE-SCHEDULED: Postponed by Tuesday’s snowstorm, Celtic band the High Kings have re-scheduled their concert at The Egg for Thursday, September 21.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: My Morning Jacket wrap up their U.S. summer tour with an outdoor concert at MASS MoCA’s Joe’s Field in North Adams. The Districts are slated to open the show. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 17).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Poison and Tesla are teaming up for some vintage hair-band headbangin’ at Albany’s Times Union Center. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Saturday (March 18).
POSTPONED: Due to scheduling concerns, the concert by Ms. Lisa Fischer & Grand Baton, originally scheduled for The Egg on Saturday (March 18), has been postponed and will now take place at 8pm on Friday, October 13. All tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the October 13 concert.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s a blues mash-up! Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ team up for an upcoming concert at The Egg as TajMo: The Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ Band. Tickets go on sale at 11am on Friday (March 17).
Scott Sharrard & the Brickyard Band are headed into downtown Albany’s Upper Room at 8pm on Friday, May 19. Tickets are available now, priced at $20 & $35.
POSTPONED: Originally scheduled to play Caffe Lena on Sunday (March 19), Canadian singer-songwriter Ariana Gillis was unable to get her work visa in time, so the concert has been postponed. New date TBA…
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown plays host to radically revamped alt-rockers The Shins with an outdoor concert this summer. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 17).
The annual Phil Ochs Song Night takes over The Linda in Albany once again at 8pm on Saturday, June 3. Co-hosted by Phil’s sister Sonny Ochs and Wanda Fischer of WAMC-FM’s “The Hudson River Sampler,” the line-up of performers paying tribute to the Ochs songbag features Greg Greenway, Pat Wictor, Tom Prasada-Rao and Reggie Harris. Tickets are currently available, priced at $18.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: New Orleans-based R&B singer August Alsina rolls into Proctors in Schenectady with opening acts A Boogie Wit a Hoodie and PnB Rock. Also upcoming at Proctors is an Engelbert Humperdinck tribute show featuring Scott Dee. Tickets for bot shows are on sale now.
RE-SCHEDULED: Dawes’ concert at the Academy of Music in Northampton was postponed due to Tuesday’s snowstorm, but it’s been re-scheduled for Friday, September 15.
In support of her new album, Salt Wind, Swedish improvisational flutist Elsa Nilsson makes a tour stop at Albany’s Madison Theater at 7pm on Friday, March 31. Jazz pianist Robert Lindquist will open the show. Tickets are $15, a portion of which will be donated to Lighthouse Relief, a group that helps Syrian refugees in Greece.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald are teaming up for a double-bill of vintage blue-eyed soul at Tanglewood’s Koussevitzky Music Shed in Lenox. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 17).
CANCELLED: Originally scheduled for Friday, June 30, the concert at The Egg by Rodriguez – the subject of the 2012 Academy Award-winning documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” – has been cancelled.
Around Greater Nippertown, the Irish music doesn’t stop after St. Patrick’s Day. Tim O’Shea & Friends, Drank the Gold and Tim Wechgelaer play traditional Celtic music at The Grove at Neumann in Saratoga Springs at 7pm on Friday, March 24. Mise Eire Irish Dancers open the show. Tickets are $15.
