MUSIC: Vieux Farka Touré @ the Half Moon, Hudson. The Hendrix of the Sahara returns to Greater Nippertown to celebrate the release of Samba, recorded live in front of a small audience at Applehead Studio in Woodstock. With Last Good Tooth. 7pm. $20.

MUSIC: “Guitars & Gutters” @ Lucky Strike Social, Guilderland. Live music-meets-bowling as Albany’s fave surf band Kimono Dragons pump out the big beat, hanging 10 over the alleys while you serve up strikes and spares. Bowling at 7pm; music at 7:30pm. FREE; $.95 per game.

MUSIC: Hamell on Trial @ the Low Beat, Albany. Yes, he’s back for more… and you should be, too. 7pm.

MUSIC: Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins @ The Falcon, Marlboro. He’s appeared on many Zappa albums, is currently a touring member of Dethklok and the Joe Satriani Band. He has recorded or performed with Robert Fripp, Wayne Kramer, Kevin Gilbert, Solomon Burke, Steve Vai, Henry Kaiser, Michael Manring, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Andy Prieboy, Mullmuzzler, the Persuasions and many others. His album Wing Beat Fantastic features a collection of songs co-written with XTC’s Andy Partridge. 9pm. Donations encouraged.

THEATER: “REBEL/Sister” @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center, Albany. It’s the world premiere of the new rock musical by Chad Larabee, Jonathan Michael Weber and Anna Ebbesen. Inspired by Sophocles’ “Antigone,” the musical follows two sisters as they find the courage to face a powerful opponent during a post-apocalyptic civil war. 7pm. $20; $15 students & seniors.

THEATER: “The Sound of Music” @ Proctors, Schenectady. “The hills are alive…” 7:30pm. $20-$90. Through Sunday.

MUSIC: Celtic Woman @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. The four multi-platinum Irish lasses present Voices of Abgels. 7pm. $42, $62 & $102.
