Win FREE Tickets to the Suitcase Junket @ The Linda on Friday
An inventive, post-modern one-man-band, the Suitcase Junket has been a semi-regular on the Greater Nippertown music scene for the past two years or so, playing everywhere from Caffe Lena to MASS MoCA to Skidmore College’s Tang Museum. Now he’s comin’ back to town for a concert at The Linda in Albany on Friday night (April 28) in support of his new album.
Saw blades, sauce pans, gas cans, baby shoes… everything that Matt Lorenz (aka, the Suitcase Junket) finds seems to fuel his wide-open imagination and find its way into his bag of music-making tricks.
He’s been compared to Tom Waits, Jack White and Tuvan throat singers, but he’s really in a category all by himself, as you can hear on his brand new album, Pile Driver, released just last week on the Signature Sounds label.
Serving up righteously rootsy foot-stompers and raw-boned pop, Lorenz will be unpacking his suitcase full of junkyard instruments for his Linda debut at 8pm on Friday (April 21). Tickets are on sale now, priced at $22.
BUT WAIT… Have we got a deal for you! We’re giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS for the show to a lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The deadline to enter is 12:30pm on Friday (April 28), and the winner will be selected at random and notified on Friday afternoon. Enter today! And good luck! Congratulations to the winner, who has been notified by email.
