FEST: GottaGetGon @ Saratoga County Fairgrounds, 5/26-28

Since 1970, the Pick’n’ & Sing’n’ Gather’n’ has sponsored the GottaGetGon, a Memorial Day weekend musical getaway and family folk festival. It’s informal, interactive and lots of fun. Camping is encouraged. So grab your musical instrument and get gone…

Featured performers at the 2017 GottaGetGon include singer of songs of the sea Tom Lewis, the second generation singer-songwriter activist Josh White Jr., singer-songwriter-dobro player Abbie Gardner of Red Molly and banjoman Bob Amos and his bluegrass band Catamount Crossing.

Held at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa, the fest kicks off on Friday, May 26 with a 6:45pm pot luck dinner and really gets rolling at 8pm with the New Generation Folk Concert featuring performances by Tom McWatters, Hamilton Craig and Jayda Chance.

On Saturday, May 27, the fest hosts workshops and concerts all day long, kicking off with the opening sampler concert at 10:25am (oh, those crazy folkies) featuring all of the performers. There’s a family country dance slated for 8pm with Paul Rosenberg calling the steps.

Concerts and workshops continue on Sunday, May 28, beginning with a gospel music session at 9:30am. The fest hosts an open mic session from 4:15-6pm, and after dark, the festivities wrap up with the traditional a cappella sing session.

Advance tickets are $60 for the weekend or $35 per day. Advance tickets for students age 20-23 years old are $35 for the weekend or $18 per day; teens age 12-19 are $2 with paying adult. Evening-only tickets are also available for $5. Weekend tix include free camping.
