Michael Bisio – Troy native and acclaimed jazz bassist-composer for more than 30 years – has rarely played by the rules. So it should come as no surprise that he’s making a return to the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy with his Accortet, an ensemble that balances freedom and swing in a euphorically compelling quartet.

Named after its unusual instrumentation, Accortet is led by Bisio, featuring the unique frontline of accordionist Art Bailey and saxmaster Adam Seigel, with Michael Wimberly manning the drums.

The band’s 2015 self-titled debut album features a song as simply beautiful as its title – “I Want to Do to You What Spring Does to Cherry Trees.”

Tickets to the concert by Michael Bisio’s Accortet are now on sale, priced at $15.
