FREE: SPAC Announces Three New Concerts
Free concerts at SPAC? Yup…
The folks at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center have announced the Caffè Lena @ SPAC concert series, three free concerts co-presented with the iconic Saratoga folk venue. Slated to take place on SPAC’s Gazebo Stage from 12noon-5pm on Sunday afternoons June 11, July 9 and August 27, the series is the follow-up to the successful spring collaboration between the two venues, which featured performances by Darlingside, St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble and Harpeth Rising at the Caffe.
Among the headlining bands slated to perform are the Steel Wheels, the award-winning Americana band from Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains; Birds of Chicago, currently touring with the Robert Cray Band; and NYC-based hip-hop group Soul Inscribed, selected by the U.S. State Department for the “American Music Abroad” program.
“Cultivating SPAC’s role as a place where creativity, culture and social connection thrive, is a key part of our vision for the future,” said Elizabeth Sobol, President and CEO of Saratoga Performing Arts Center. “Welcoming everyone – families, neighbors, visitors – to our venue to enjoy extraordinary music surrounded by the beauty of nature, moves us down that path and will add a festive, dynamic energy to our season.”
Admission to the concert series is free, and concert-goers are welcome to bring in food, drink, blankets and lawn chairs. Food concessions will also be available. In the event of rain on the day of performance, the concert location will shift to Caffè Lena (and will remain free
to the public).

Looks like some good music but it’s a weird mix. The last Sunday has a jam band, a gypsy jazz band and a hip hop fans, what the heck is SPAC thinking?
That many people have varied tastes and open minds?
Bill & CJ: Really, I love it. The Fillmore booking concept comes to Saratoga…
I’ve heard of TBA before. Always on tour, hard to catch though. A free concert series was overdue to balance the high ticket prices & overpriced concessions, and maybe bring back a little bit of the magic.
