FREE: The Egg Announces Made in the Shade Concert Schedule

The folks at The Egg are bringing the music outdoors once again this summer with their free Made in the Shade of The Egg lunchtime concert series.

The 13 concerts will take place on the Empire State Plaza next door to The Egg at 12noon on Wednesdays throughout June, July and August.

From roadhouse honky-tonk to strutting New Orleans brass band music, from scorching blues to ballet, the series offers something for everyone to enjoy during the mid-day lunch break.

Here’s the complete schedule for the 2017 Made in the Shade of The Egg concert series:

NEW BREED BRASS BAND
June 7
The New Breed Brass Band lives and breathes the culture of Louisiana, bringing a modern sensibility to the time-honored brass band tradition.

KAT WRIGHT & THE INDOMITABLE SOUL BAND
June 14
A voice that is at once sultry and dynamic, delicate yet powerful, Kat Wright presides over the new school R&B of the Indomitable Soul Band.

ORKESTA MENDOZA
June 21
Orkesta Mendoza plays their unique brand of “indie mambo” music performed on Latin percussion, accordion, brass and steel guitars.

THE BIG TAKEOVER
June 28
The Big Takeover performs Jamaican reggae and ska spiced with American soul.

THE ADAM EZRA GROUP
July 5
Adam Ezra leads his contemporary indie-folk-rock band, well known for their passion for smart, well-written lyrics, tight musicianship and exciting live performances.

BEG, STEAL OR BORROW
July 12
Vermont’s Beg, Steal or Borrow plays bluegrass and newgrass inspired by the classic Old & in the Way band.

JOE LOUIS WALKER
July 19
The powerhouse guitar virtuoso and boundary-pushing icon of modern blues performs with his band.

AJKUN BALLET THEATRE
July 26
Ajkun Ballet Theatre mixes contemporary repertory and traditional ballets, including an excerpt from “Sleeping Beauty.”

INCENDIO
August 2
Incendio plays a global fusion of flamenco, classical, jazz, rock and Celtic music.

THE SOUL REBELS
August 9
The Soul Rebels play pop tunes performed New Orleans marching band-style, stirred up with funk, soul and elements of hip-hop, jazz and rock.

ROOSEVELT DIME
August 16
Roosevelt Dime plays a modern Americana mix steeped in Dixieland, blues, bluegrass and jug band music.

THE SWEETBACK SISTERS
August 23
The Sweetback Sisters bring honky-tonk harmonies from the golden age of country music.

ELLEN SINOPOLI DANCE COMPANY
August 30
A creative force for more than a quarter century, Ellen Sinopoli offers modern dance performed by her company of compelling, athletic and versatile dancers.
