Win FREE TICKETS to the Rahim AlHaj Trio Concert at Sanctuary for Independent Media on Wednesday
Iraqi-American virtuoso oud musician-composer Rahim AlHaj, a National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship awardee and two-time Grammy nominee, performs around the world speaking out against oppression in his ongoing mission to “give voice to the voiceless.”
On Wednesday (May 24) at 7pm, the Rahim AlHaj Trio will make their Greater Nippertown concert debut at the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy.
AlHaj and his band will perform songs from his latest Smithsonian Folkways album, Letters from Iraq, which features music inspired and adapted from letters written by Iraqis who described events they’ve experienced during the constant violence and warfare in their homeland.
“Basically, these letters are short stories, real stories, of what happened to Iraqi women and children,” says AlHaj.
Tickets for the Rahim AlHaj Trio’s concert on Wednesday evening are now on sale, priced at $15.
