You could hear the music down the street before you got to the Troy Innovation Garage, and once you did, there was a sandwich board on the street telling what was going on inside…

It was a Rock Against Racism concert taking place on Saturday afternoon (May 20) to benefit the Madison family of Schodack, whose home was damaged and garage destroyed by racist graffiti and an alleged arson attack less than a week earlier.

On the fly, club promoter Jason Krak organised the event, which featured Mystery Girl, Cresente, Ragliacci and an open mic session. He wasn’t able to confirm a venue for the benefit concert until Friday afternoon – less than 24 hours before the concert.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for those wishing to make an online donation to the family.

The Madisons are also accepting donations through the New Horizons Christian Church. Donations with the note “Madison Family” can be sent to New Horizons Christian Church, 146 Catherine St., Albany, NY 12202 or send an e-mail to Pastor David Traynham (also President of the Albany NAACP) at [email protected] for further information.
