Tanglewood Announces New Concert

One of Tanglewood’s all-time most memorable rock shows took place back in 1970, when the Who bashed out a howling rendition of their classic rock opera “Tommy.”

This summer the Who’s guitarist Pete Townshend returns to the Lenox shed to perform “Classic Quadrophenia,” a rock-meets-orchestral rendition of 1973’s “Quadrophenia,” the Who’s other great rock opera. Townshend will be joined by Billy Idol, tenor Alfie Boe and Keith Lockhart conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra.

“Classic Quadrophenia” at Tanglewood – one of only four American performances – will take place at 8pm on Saturday, September 2. Tickets are priced from $39-$189 and go on sale to the general public at 10am on Tuesday (June 13).
