Q: What do you get when you mash up classical music and hip-hop?
A: Black Violin

Black Violin is a band led by the dynamic duo of violinist Kev Marcus and viola player Wil B., two classically trained musicians who play with a decidedly contemporary spin.

They’ve played at SXSW, Bonnaroo and three Super Bowls, as well as President Obama’s Inaugural Ball, and they’ve collaborated with a who’s-who of music superstars, including Kanye West, the Eagles, Tom Petty, Aerosmith and Aretha Franklin. Not surprisingly, their recent concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall was a serious dazzler.

If you missed them in Troy (or if you just need to see them again), Black Violin is headed to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Monday, August 21, as part of the new SPAC on Stage concert series.
