Win FREE Tickets to the Downtown Is Pawsome Garden Party

Downtown Is Pawsome this summer!

In celebration of Nipper, the iconic 28-foot-tall, four-ton canine who stands vigilant guard over the Albany skyline, the folks at the Downtown Albany BID are sponsoring an outdoor art installation throughout the downtown streets featuring 20 three-foot-tall mini Nippers, each customized in unique and unexpected ways by artists from throughout Greater Nippertown and beyond.

The Summer of Nipper kicks off with the Downtown Is Pawsome Garden Party in Albany’s City Hall (the rain location) Tricentennial Park from 5:30-8pm on Friday (June 16), where you can view the first litter of 10 painted pups (the additional 10 will be installed in early July), listen to the sounds of the Arch Stanton Quartet, enjoy some delicious food and refreshing summer beverages and generally party down.

Historian, author and former New York State Assemblymember Hon. Jack McEneny will be presented with the Norman S. Rice Arts, Culture and Education Award during the event.

Tickets for the Downtown Is Pawsome Garden Party are $60 in advance; $65 at the gate; $40 for those under age 30. Proceeds from the Garden Party will benefit the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and the Downtown Albany BID’s continuing efforts to revitalize our downtown streets.

BUT WAIT… we’re giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS for the Downtown Is Pawsome Garden Party to a lucky Nippertown reader! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. Deadline to enter is 12:30pm on Friday (June 16).
