Congrats go out to Williamstown-based band Misty Blues, who brought their “groovable blues” sound to The Linda in Albany last weekend and walked away with top honors at the Capital Region Blues Network’s fifth annual Blues Challenge.

Also performing in the battle of the blues bands were the Amy Ryan Band, Sly Fox & the Hustlers and Wyld Blu, all of whom served up some mighty stiff competition.

The winner of the Blues Challenge was determined by a voting process which was weighted evenly between the balloting of the audience members and the voting of CRBN’s panel of judges.

As the winners last Saturday night, Misty Blues will represent CRBN at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Competition in Memphis in January. They will also receive $1500 cash and support from CRBN with a fundraiser and other opportunities to play to help finance the trip.

Misty Blues features vocalist Gina Coleman, guitarists Jason Webster and Jeff Dudziak, bassist Bill Patriquin, keyboardist Ben Kohn, drummer Rob Tatter and saxophonist Aaron Dean.

If you want to congratulate the band in person, this weekend, you can catch them in the spotlight at the Dream Away Lodge in Becket at 8pm Thursday (June 29); the Hotel on North in Pittsfield at 8pm Friday (June 30); and Firefly in Lenox at 8pm on Saturday (July 1).
