COMIN’ SOON: New Concert Announcements

Colony in Woodstock has added a handful of new shows to its concert calendar, including Austin’s Shelley King at 8pm on Thursday, July 20 ($10); Shannon McNally at 8pm on Friday, September 8 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door) and Troy’s own tunesmith Sean Rowe at 8pm on Saturday, September 16 ($15).

Also down in Woodstock, Levon Helm Studios has announced new concerts by the Eric Redd Movement at 8pm on Friday, August 4 ($20); Brett Dennen at 7pm on Sunday, August 13 ($35 & $55); Gavin DeGraw at 8pm on Friday, August 25 ($60 & $90); and Ryan Montbleau with Kat Wright at 8pm on Friday, September 8 ($25 & $45).

OPENERS: Albany’s free Alive at Five concert series has finally finalized its summer line-up with the addition of The Parlor as the opening act for Marian Hill at 5pm on Thursday, July 27 at Albany’s Jennings Landing.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The folks at WEQX-FM announced the line-up of bands for the free PearlPalooza street festival on Albany’s North Pearl Street – K.Flay, Rubblebucket, Arkells, Colony House and Kimono Dragons, with one more slot TBA.

Walter Salas-Humara of the Silos returns to the Low Beat in Albany on Friday, October 6 with the Coal Palace Kings opening the show at 8pm.

OPENERS: West End Blend has snagged the opening slot for the free concert by soulman Charles Bradley & His Extarordinaires at the Empire State Plaza’s Summer at the Plaza concert series at 5pm on Wednesday, July 26.

It looks like The Linda is about to foray into heretofore explored territory – metal. Canadian headbangers Sierra invade The Linda on Friday, July 28 with Witches of God opening the show at 7pm. And in non-metal news, sultry singer Lauren Bjelde leads Royal Jelly Jive into The Linda at 7pm on Saturday, August 26. Tickets for both shows are on sale now, priced at $15 each.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The National making a two-night stand at Basilcia Hudson, serving up a collaborative in-the-round concert with Buke & Gase, Nadia Sirota, Mouse on Mars, So Percussion and more. Priced at $50, tickets are now on sale…

Led by keyboardist Rachel Z, the new jazz super-group I/O – also featuring guitarist David Gilmore, reed player Erik Lawrence, bassist Scott Petito and percussionist Roberto Juan Rodriguez – steps into the spotlight at Club Helsinki at 8pm on Sunday, July 23. Tickets are $25. Also new on Club Helsinki’s concert calendar are Wye Oak at 8pm on Thursday, October 5. Tickets are $20.

RE-SCHEDULED: Last month’s concert by the Airplane Family & Friends with Live Dead ’69, which was postponed due to scheduling conflicts, has now been re-scheduled for 8pm on Friday, October 27 at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield.

The latest installment of the Here’s to the Heroes Country Music Series lands at Vapor in Saratoga Springs on Thursday, July 27 featuring Charlie Worsham and Lucas Hoge. Doors open at 7pm, and admission is $10 benefiting Operation Adopt a Soldier.

SOLD OUT: Black Violin’s August 21 concert at Saratoga Performing Arts Center as part of the new SPAC on Stage concert series is now officially sold out.

Last week we announced the concert by Reeves Grabels & His Imaginary Friends at the Hangar on the Hudson at 8pm on Saturday, July 22. Priced at $20, tickets are now on sale.

SOLD OUT: Don’t lollygag around if there’s a show at Levon Helm Studios that you want to see. The Woodstock venue continues to sell-out many of their concerts, including Guster on Saturday, July 8; the Prisoners of 2nd Avenue on Saturday, July 29; and the Weight Band on Thursday, August 24.
