Bits ‘n’ Pieces: Glens Falls Civic Center, Shep Gordon, Ed Asner & a Bunny

The Woodstock Film Festival has announced that Shep Gordon – legendary music manager, film producer and culinary arts visionary and legendary music manager of Alice Cooper, Luther Vandross, Teddy Pendergrass and others – will be honored with the 2017 Trailblazer Award at BSP Kingston on Saturday, October 14.

The Glens Falls Civic Center is now the Cool Insuring Arena. For the first time since the arena opened in 1979, the building will have an official sponsor. The re-brand is part of a five-year financial agreement with Cool Insuring Agency.

The Center for Photography at Woodstock is celebrating its 40th birthday with a Bare Walls Birthday Bash at 7pm on Saturday (July 15). Enjoy music, dancing, cake, adult beverages and a silent auction of artwork. $10 suggested donation.

The Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill has come up with a unique fundraiser. Their current production, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, features a live rabbit onstage. And the theater is holding a silent auction to find a home for the bunny after the show closes on Sunday (July 16). The winner will receive the red-eyed white doe (female) Mini-Rex, the fully equipped cage, a bunch of bunny food and the official pedigree papers. You can bid at the theater or by email at [email protected] Any amount over $75 will be a tax-deductible donation to Bridge Street Theatre. The deadline for bids is 12midnight on Sunday.

Seven-time Emmy Award winning actor Ed Asner will be stepping into the spotlight at the Wood Theater in Glens Falls at 7pm on August 21, starring in the one-man comedy based on a true life experience – A Man & His Prostate.
