CANCELLED: The American Music Festival for the Lake

The American Music Festival for the Lake was the inaugural event at Wood Park in Lake George when it opened in the fall of 2014. In the ensuing years, the annual fest hosted such bands as Robert Randolph & the Family Band, NRBQ, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Sawyer Fredericks, Blotto, Blue Oyster Cult and Quinn Sullivan.

Now organizers have announced the cancellation of the fourth annual fest, citing only “a number of contributing factors.” The fest was slated to take place on Saturday & Sunday, September 23 & 24. Refunds are now available to those who purchased early-bird tickets to the 2017 fest.

The post on the festival’s Facebook page reads in part:

“We remain hopeful that we will soon announce Wood Park as the site of our 2018 American Music Festival. In the meantime, we are concurrently looking at Warren County as a potential site for another (separate) possible addition to our music festival portfolio.”

Way to go Mayor Blais. Chase away the only event that was actually drawing crowds up there. I went to the first (Robert Randolph) and third (Blue Oyster Cult) ones and they were well done, with great sound, a beautiful setting and a friendly vibe. But I guess it wasn’t a biker rally so they don;t like that up there.

There a other great events going on in Lake George.
As an original co-owner of the failed American music festival, I can attest to this. I was the guy who made sure that sound and production was great.
Look for a major announcement tomorrow morning to replace that cancelled show on September 24
It’s a mighty good one. Mayor Blais had nothing to do with this. The failure of the festivals organizer to fulfill his obligation resulted in his removal from the event spaces schedule. End of story.
