NEW CONCERTS: This Week’s Round-Up

Banjo master Tony Trischka brings his annual Of a Winter’s Night holiday tour to the Cock ‘N Bull in Galway on Wednesday, December 20. Trischka will be joined by multi-instrumentalist/shape-note singer Tim Eriksen, shape note-singer/fiddler Zoe Darrow, violinist Phoebe Hunt and mandolinist Dominic Leslie on mandolin. 5:30pm dinner; 8pm music. $60 includes dinner and the performance.
The award-winning Danish traditional folk duo Gangspil – featuring Kristian Bugge (fiddle) and Sonnich Lydom (accordion, harmonica, vocals) take over O’Brien’s Public House in Troy at 7:30pm on Saturday (November 25). Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Tanglewood in Lenox has announced the initial round of concerts for the summer of 2018, including radio shows “A Prairie Home Companion” with host Chris Thile and “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me,” as well as Audra McDonald and, of course, a two-night stand by James Taylor.
CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The Figgs’ Saratoga springs homecoming holiday bash has shifted venues. Originally slated for Friday, December 1 at Putnam Den, the show has been relocated to Newberry Music Hall. The band will also be playing at the Low Beat on Saturday, December 2, as previously announced.
Lookin’ ahead to New Year’s Eve? BSP Kingston is playing host to Rubblebucket with Marco Benevento and more TBA. Doors open at 8pm. Early bird tickets are priced at $30 til Friday, December 1.
Also on Sunday, December 31, the Bearsville Theater presents a Dead & Dread New Year’s Eve featuring Gratefully Yours and reggae fave Ras T Asheber with DJ Justin Case and Bianca Boom. The show begins at 9pm, and tickets are available now priced at $30 & $40.
And New Year’s Eve at Colony in Woodstock will feature the Big Takeover with Los Thujones opening. Early bird tickets are now available, priced at $30; $40 after December 10.

Club Helsinki in Hudson welcomes back Lady Moon & The Eclipse for a homecoming concert at 9pm on Saturday, December 9 ($TBA). The Lustre Kings’ annual Elvis Birthday Bash Tour concludes at Club Helsinki on Friday, January 12 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door). And the Dupont Brothers return on Thursday, January 25 with The Sea The Sea opening the show at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $15.

Celtic favorites Cherish the Ladies are headed into the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton at 7pm on Thursday, February 22. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Also new on the Iron Horse schedule is blues-rock guitarslinger Ana Popovic and her band at 7pm on Monday, April 23. ($25 in advance; $30 at the door).
