NEW CONCERTS: New Concert Announcements

Club Helsinki in Hudson has got a serious case of the New Orleans style rockin’ pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu with a string of rollickin’ Big Easy shows on tap for the Mardi Gras season, including the return of Glen David Andrews at 9pm on Friday, February 9 ($25), the Soul Brass Band at 8pm on Sunday Feb 11 ($20 in advance; $25 at the door) and the uber funky Dumpstaphunk led by Ivan Neville at 9pm on Saturday March 10 ($25 & $35).

CANCELLED: Originally scheduled for Friday (January 26), the Times Union Center’s all-star Grand Re-Opening Celebration Concert featuring James Taylor, John Legend, Jim Belushi and Moriah Formica has been cancelled.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In what is likely to be Greater Nippertown’s hottest hip-hop show of the year, Kendrick Lamar is headlining the Championship Tour stop at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, along with ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Lance Skiiiwalker and Zacari. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 12noon on Friday (January 26).

Between the Buried and Me and the Dear Hunter co-headline at Clifton Park’s Upstate Concert Hall on Monday, April 2, with Leprous opening the show at 7pm. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $25 in advance; $28 at the door. Meanwhile, Moriah Formica will be joined by Madison Vandenburgh, Margo Macero and Sydney Worthley in concert at 7pm on Friday, April 13. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 26), priced at $10 in advance; $12 at the door. And Blackberry Smoke is also rolling into UCH at 8pm on Saturday, May 19. Priced at $29.50 in advance; $32 at the door, tickets go on sale at 10am on Thursday (January 25).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The line-up of bands for the 2018 Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain has been announced, including Jack Johnson, Sturgill Simpson, alt-J, the War on Drugs, Portugal. The Man, Father John Misty, The Decemberists, Jenny Lewis, Kurt Vile & the Violators, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Rag’n’Bone Man, Turkuaz, Chicano Batman, the Record Company, Anderson East, the Felice Brothers and a whole lot more. Three-day tickets are on sale now.

SOLD OUT: Three Dog Night’s concert at The Egg’s Hart Theatre at 8pm on Sunday, February 11 is now officially sold out.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Saratoga Performing Arts Center announced five new country music concerts, including Keith Urban with Kelsea Ballerini; WGNA’s CountryFest featuring Rascal Flatts; Jason Aldean with Luke Combs and Lauren Alaina; Dierks Bentley with Brothers Osborne and Lanco; and Luke Bryan with Jon Pardi and Morgan Wallen.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Stand-up comedian Anthony Jeselnik is bringing the laughs to The Egg’s Hart Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (January 26).

The Rock Academy’s “Best of Season Show” features songs that stretch from Black Sabbath to Sly Stone to Bob Dylan at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 7pm on Saturday, February 3. Tickets are $20. And Steely Dan tribute band Reelin’ in the Years takes the Bearsville stage at 8:30pm on Saturday, February 24. Tickets are $20, $25 & $40.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Decemberists are slated to take the stage at MASS MoCA in North Adams this summer. Tickets are now on sale.

CANCELLED: Originally scheduled for Saturday (January 27), the concert by Michael Clip Payne & the 420 Funk Mob at Colony in Woodstock has been cancelled.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Nathaniel Ratteliff & the Night Sweats and The Head and The Heart are teaming up for a double-bill at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown this summer. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (January 26).

Nitti Gritti pumps up the volume at Jupiter Hall in Guilderland at 9:30pm on Saturday (January 27) with support by NGHTWRK, Hazeyy, G-Wiz, Chattter and more. Tickets are $15 in advance. Meanwhile, Michael Barr (formerly of Volumes) and Apache Chief grab the spotlight at 7pm on Sunday, February 18 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door) and former teenybopper Aaron Carter (now 30 years old) takes the stage at 7pm on Tuesday, March 6 ($15; VIP $65).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: For the third consecutive year, Dead & Co. are headed into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday (January 26).

The Wood Theater in Glens Falls has added a number of new stand-up comedy shows to the calendar, including Rory Albanese at 8pm Friday (January 26); Kevin Downey, Jr. at 8pm on Saturday, February 3; the Gender Defenders’ Valentine’s Day Comedy Show at 7:30pm on Wednesday, February 14; and Nick Di Paolo’s “Nick Is Right” Tour at 8pm on Saturday, March 17. Tickets for each show are $20 in advance; $25 at the door.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Veteran prog-rockers Kansas blow into The Egg’s Hart Theatre like dust in the wind. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 26).

CANCELLED: Haywire is no longer on the bill with Gramatik at the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park on Saturday, April 28 as previously announced.
