Mike McGrath Benefit Bash @ The Low Beat & Pauly’s Hotel
Mike McGrath is a big music fan and a real sweetheart of a guy. He’s been one of Albany’s favorite bartenders at such venues as Valentine’s Music Hall, the Low Beat and most recently the Excelsior Pub. He’s also a husband and father who has recently suffered a serious and unexpected medical setback. So Greater Nippertown’s musical community is once again joining forces to help out one of their own.
On Saturday night (March 17), the Low Beat and Pauly’s Hotel will host Thrash for McGrath, a joint benefit blowout for McGrath and his family in their time of need.
The musical festivities get underway at 7pm, with a batch of bands at both venues throughout the night. Two venues, nine bands and one good cause – all for just a $10 donation at the door.
And one of those bands is the Charlie Watts Riots, who will be returning to the spotlight following a very extended hiatus. And for those of you whose Local 518 musical memory goes way back, the show will also feature the reunion of Bloom, who played their last public performance in April of 1997 at Valentine’s Music Hall – nearly 20 years ago. And yeah, McGrath was probably bartending there that night, too.
If you can’t make it to the show but would still like to help out, you can also make a donation at Mike’s Go Fund Me page…
Here’s the line-up of bands for Saturday night’s big bash:
PAULY’S HOTEL
Male Patterns
The Slaughterhouse Chorus
Mystery Girl
Grease Fire
