MUSIC: Gregg August & Friends @ MASS MoCA. The summer residency of Bang on a Can (sometimes dubbed Banglewood) offers daily in-gallery concerts, including today’s recital of original compositions and arrangements by the BoC bassist. 4:30pm. Free with museum admission.
THEATER: West Side Story @ Glimmerglass Opera, Cooperstown. Tony and Maria, Leonard Bernstein’s 20th-century incarnation of Romeo and Juliet, struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice. This production gets a hip, urban spin and features the original Jerome Robbins choreography in one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musicals of our time. 1:30pm. FILM: “The Goonies” @ South Pearl Street, Albany. The Bites, Camera, Action outdoor film series takes over the street in front of the Times Union Center with Richard Donner’s 1985 adventure-comedy. Music and games at 6:30pm; film at 7:30pm. FREE.
