The Mark May Band wrapped up the Music on Mainstreet summer concert series in Canajoharie last month. The Houston-based band was led by May, who was second guitarist on the Dickey Betts Band’s 2001 CD “Let’s Get Together” and who toured for two years with Betts’ Great Southern.

At the Music On Mainstreet concert on the lawn of Canajoharie’s NBT Bank, the band showcased May’s Allman Brothers-style fretwork on “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” “Southbound” and an extended “Whipping Post.” The band’s two sets also sampled original music from May’s five-CD catalog, including the recent Blues Heaven and Release My Soul.
