LIVE: Mississippi Heat @ The Linda, 10/12/18

Pierre Lacoque

Review & photographs by Rudy Lu

The members of Mississippi Heat drove all night to get to The Linda to deliver their brand of Chicago blues to Albany music fans.

Led by harmonica virtuoso Pierre Lacocque, the band ripped through an hour and a half of crowd-pleasing blues. His playing grabbed the audience, and his use of dynamics and full tone defined why the lowly diatonic harmonica is sometimes dubbed the Mississippi saxophone.

Vocalist Inetta Visor belted out the blues with the gusto and swagger of a classic blues shouter. The entire band – including guitarist Michael Dotson (who also sang some originals), bassist Brian Quinn and drummer Terrence Williams – also handled vocals.

Thank you for taking the long drive, Mississippi Heat. See you the next time you are in Greater Nippertown…

It was a pleasure performing at The Linda in front of an enthusiastic crowd. It felt like we were performing overseas. The welcome was fabulous. Thank you for an inspiring evening! Pierre, Band Leader
