11/20/18: Today’s Top Tips: Tuesday

TALK/MUSIC: Rochmon Record Club Listening Party @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Chuck Vosganian serves up another of his multimedia presentation that focuses on one classic album. This time around, It’s Carole King’s mega-hit album, Tapestry. 7pm. $8. UPDATE: This event is now officially sold out… Also at 7pm Sunday.

THEATER: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical @ Palace Theatre, Albany. The beloved TV special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” soars off the screen and onto the stage, and all of your favorite characters from the classic special – Santa and Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, Clarice, Yukon Cornelius and, of course, Rudolph – come to life. 6pm. $28.50, $38.50, $45.50 & $63.

OPEN MIC: Open Mic with Cameron & Ryder @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. 6pm sign-up; 7pm show. FREE.

STORYTELLING: On the Fly Story Slam @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. The stories are told, not read. No notes are allowed onstage. Storytellers are selected at random from those who sign up. Tonight’s theme is “magic.” 5:30pm sign-up; 6pm stories. FREE.

SPOKEN WORD: Brass Tacks @ the Low Beat, Albany. Featuring some of the finest poets in Greater Nippertown along with an open mic to all poets, writers and artists who have something to share. 7pm.

THEATER ON SCREEN: Red @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. The play is about two years in the life of Mark Rothko (Alfred Molina), the great abstract expressionist. Under the watchful gaze of his young assistant, and the threatening presence of a new generation of artists, Rothko takes on his greatest challenge yet: to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting. 2 & 7pm. $15.
