MUSIC: Bright Dog Red @ Jupiter Hall, Albany. It’s a homecoming concert in support of their debut Ropeadope Records album, Means to an End, as the improvising collective fuses free improvisation, electronica, jazz, hip hop and more. With labelmate Adam Ahuja, who has been described as “Mahavishnu Orchestra meets Digable Planets.” 8pm. $15.
MUSIC: The Ballroom Thieves @ the College of St. Rose’s Massry Center for the Arts, Albany. After being postponed by last month’s snowstorm, the Boston-based trio – Calin “Callie” Peters (vocals, cello), Martin Earley (guitar, vocals) and Devin Mauch (percussion, vocals) – makes good on a re-scheduled date. MUSIC: Griffin House @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. An amber smooth voice with subtle grit, driving guitar and an unassuming stage presence create the backdrop for his deliciously catchy and utterly personal original songs on his latest album, So On and So Forth. 7pm. $27.
