Lots of Laughs Headed Our Way

There are always some A-list comedy shows on tap around Greater Nippertown, but in the January doldrums the need for a few laughs seems extra important, and a cavalcade of new stand-up shows have just been announced. Here’s a quick round-up:

In Schenectady, Rivers Casino & Resort Event Center will play host to comedian-actor Nikki Glaser at 8pm on Saturday, May 11. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $20, $30, $40 & $50.

The fourth annual High Mud Comedy Festival takes over MASS MoCA in North Adams on March 29 & 30. The line-up of performers won’t be announced until Monday (January 14), but until then tickets are available at a special discount – just $30 for a regularly priced $55 two-day ticket. PS: Past performers have included Mike Birbiglia, Tig Notaro, Phoebe Robinson, Dave Hill, Ophira Eisenberg, Nellie McKay and others.

The Funny Bone in Guilderland is ratcheting up the yuks with upcoming performances by Donnell Rawlings on Friday & Saturday, January 18 & 19 ($20); Dan Cummins on Sunday, January 20 ($20); John Witherspoon on Friday & Saturday, February 8 & 9 ($25); Eddie Griffin on Friday & Saturday, February 22 & 23 ($40 & $55); Tracy Morgan on Friday & Saturday, March 15 & 16 ($35 & $50); Corey Holcomb on Thursday, April 18 ($25 & $35); and Samuel Comroe on Thursday, May 30 ($30-$50).

The Wood Theater in Glens Falls will play host to the Making Comedy Great Again Tour at 8pm on Friday, February 1. The evening will feature performances by stand-up comedians Jeff Allen, Ross Bennett, Earl David Reed and Tina Giorgi. Tickets are on sale now, priced at $35 in advance; $40 at the door.

After being closed for maintenance for a week and a half, the Comedy Works in Saratoga Springs re-opens on Saturday with the Comedy Works All-Stars headlined by Jaye McBride ($20). Also newly announced are upcoming shows by Ray Harrington on Friday & Saturday, January 18 & 19 ($20); Adrienne Iapalucci on Friday & Saturday, January 25 & 26 ($20); Rich Vos on Friday & Saturday, February 1 & 2 ($25); Tim Meadows on Friday & Saturday, March 1 & 2 ($30); Ross Bennett on Friday & Saturday, March 15 & 16 ($20); and Flip Orley on Friday & Saturday, June 7 & 8 ($25).
