CELEBRATION: New York State’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Observance @ Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Albany. Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King with a special performance by Tony Award-winning Broadway actress-vocalist Lillias White, a keynote address by former New York Giants running back and “Dancing with the Stars” champion Rashad Jennings, and more. 10am. FREE.

MUSIC: Schenectady Symphony Orchestra @ Proctors, Schenectady. Brett Wery conducts music by Tchaikowsky, Glazunov & Mendelssohn. With soloist Michael Emery and members of the CHIME program of the Empire State Youth Orchestra. 7pm. $15 & $22.

MUSIC/TALK/FUNDRAISER: An Evening with Daryl Davis @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. He’s a world-class musician who has performed with B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Bruce Hornsby and Jerry Lee Lewis. But he’s even better known for his courageous peace-making. Davis has personally befriended and converted more than 200 members of the Ku Klux Klan.
