MUSIC: Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Stratospheric picking, fantastic harmony vocals, and a song selection that covers a huge emotional range have made this Washington, DC band one of the most celebrated in modern bluegrass. Tonight, they celebrate the release of their new album, If You Can’t Stand the Heat on Compass Records. 4 & 8pm. $30.

MUSIC: “Triptych (Eyes of One on Another)” @ MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center, North Adams. Composer Bryce Dessner (The National) and a team of extraordinary collaborators including director Daniel Fish and Ashley Tata, librettist Korde Arrington Tuttle and Roomful of Teeth for a work-in-progress presentation which — through music, projection, and theatrical lighting — puts us inside Robert Mapplethorpe’s bold, voracious view of how nature and humans look, touch, feel, hurt and love one another. $26 & $35; students $10.
