MUSIC: Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Stratospheric picking, fantastic harmony vocals, and a song selection that covers a huge emotional range have made this Washington, DC band one of the most celebrated in modern bluegrass. Tonight, they celebrate the release of their new album, If You Can’t Stand the Heat on Compass Records. 4 & 8pm. $30.
MUSIC: “Triptych (Eyes of One on Another)” @ MASS MoCA’s Hunter Center, North Adams. Composer Bryce Dessner (The National) and a team of extraordinary collaborators including director Daniel Fish and Ashley Tata, librettist Korde Arrington Tuttle and Roomful of Teeth for a work-in-progress presentation which — through music, projection, and theatrical lighting — puts us inside Robert Mapplethorpe’s bold, voracious view of how nature and humans look, touch, feel, hurt and love one another. $26 & $35; students $10.
MUSIC: Victory Soul Orchestra @ the Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Albany. The nine-piece funk and Afro-soulsters celebrate the release of their new album, Astrobeat. With Hartley’s Encore, DJ Trumaster and JB aka Dirty Moses. 9pm. $12.
MUSIC: Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds @ Levon Helm Studios, Woodstock. Their new album, Gold, finds Sister Sparrow taking the classic brass-fueled Dirty Birds sound and turning it into something altogether new: a soul-blasted contemporary pop sound both timeless yet utterly now. THEATER: One-Man “Star Wars” Trilogy @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. Created and brought to life on stage by Canadian actor Charles Ross, the live solo performance of the original trilogy of “Star Wars” movies (“A New Hope,” “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi”). 1:30 & 7:30pm. $30.
BURLESQUE: Roxxi Tart’s 1920’s Burlesque Revue @ Hudson Harbor Steak and Seafood Restaurant, Albany. Roxxi Tart and her troupe perform a night of fun-filled hi-jinx-infused hot Burlesque from the golden age of jazz. 8pm. $20.
THEATER: Bindlestiff Family Cirkus @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Led by the husband-and-wife duo of Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson, the monthly winter cabaret features a variety of circus, theater, comedy and musical entertainers. 9pm. $35.
