Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York Presents “Fences” [Berkshire on Stage]
Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York (formerly known as Soul Rebel Performance Troupe) presents Fences from Thursday (January 31) through Sunday, February 10 at Siena College’s Beaudoin Theatre in Loudonville.
August Wilson’s gripping Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning masterpiece is a gripping family drama is about Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro baseball league who now works as a garbage man in what is assumed to be 1957 Pittsburgh. As a black man excluded from the major leagues during his prime, Troy’s inner conflicts take their toll on his relationships with his wife and children as he struggles to provide for them in a time when slavery is over but the civil rights movement has still not come to fruition.
