MUSIC: Cindy Cashdollar & The Syncopators @ The Falcon Underground, Marlboro. The pedal steel ace and her band serve up an evening of western swing and more. 8pm. Donations encouraged.

TALK: Charlayne Woodward @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center’s Studio Theater, Albany. The New York State Writers Institute presents the the multi-talented writer, actor and Albany High School alum. As an actress, she received two Obie Awards for her work in The Witch of Edmonton and Suzan-Lori Parks’ In the Blood, as well as a Tony Award nomination for her work in Ain’t Misbehavin’. As a playwright, she’s won multiple awards for her solo plays, including Pretty Fire, Neat, In Real Life and The Night Watcher. Her film credits include M. Night Shyamalan’s “Glass” and “Unbreakable,” as well as John Sayles’ “Sunshine State.” She plays the character of Helena St. Rogers on the new FX series “Pose.” 8pm. FREE. Also a free craft talk at 4:15pm at UAlbany PAC.

MUSIC: Super Dark Monday @ Desperate Annie’s, Saratoga Springs. A triple-header featuring Murderer’s Row, Girth Control and Arch Fiends. 9:30pm. FREE.

WORKSHOP: Comedy Writers Circle @ Eden Cafe, Loudonville. A new first-Monday-of-the-month gathering of writers, stand-up comedians and improvisers. 6pm. FREE.

MUSIC: “Bagatelles Without Tonality” @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center, Albany. Faculty member Max Lifchitz plays brief piano pieces by composers from the Americas inspired by Franz Liszt’s prophetic masterpiece including concise works by Canadians Allan Crossman and Leslie Opatril; Argentinean Alicia Terzián; Brazilian Gilberto Mendes; and Mexican Manuel Enríquez as well as Americans Ruth Crawford, Ssu-Yu Huang, Robert Martin, Joseph Rivers and William Toutant. The program will also introduce a new composition written for the occasion by Lifchitz. 7pm. $10; students & seniors $5.

OPEN MIC: Monday Open Mic @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. 7pm sign-up; 7:30pm show. $3.
