MUSIC: Mardi Gras 2019 @ Proctors’ GE Theatre, Schenectady. New Orleans funk/jazz powerhouse Dirty Dozen Brass Band will help cure those mid-winter blues, partying down for Fat Tuesday dance party with Mardi Gras Indian band Cha Wa. Horns a’plenty. 7:30pm. $39.50.

MUSIC: Gangstagrass @ SCCC’s Carl B. Taylor Auditorium, Schenectady. In 2006, New York City musician and beats producer Rench imagined what bluegrass and hip-hop combined might sound like. The result was the genre-demolishing Gangstagrass. 7:30pm. FREE, but registration is required.

THEATER: The Taming of the Shrew @ Hudson Valley Community College’s Maureen Stapleton Theatre, Troy. The tenth annual Shakespeare & Company residency presents a 90-minute adaptation of the Shakespeare classic. 12noon. FREE.

MUSIC: Hamell on Trial @ the Low Beat, Albany. Hamell’s Hump Day Happy Hour residency continues… 7pm.

ARTIST TALK: Yun-Fei Ji @ Skidmore College’s Tang Museum, Saratoga Springs. The artist engages in the Dunkerley Dialogue with Religious Studies Professor Ryan Overbey. 6pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Klugherz/Heyman Duo @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center, Albany. Violinist Laura Klurgherz and pianist Steven Heyman offer “An Evening with Beethoven” performing the violin/piano sonatas Op. 12, No. 2; Op. 23 and Op. 96 in anticipation and celebration of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the great composer’s birth. 7:30pm. $20; students/seniors $15.

JAM SESSION: Bluegrass Jam @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Hosted by the Scroon River String Band. Tutorial at 6:30pm; music at 7pm. $5.

FILM: “Frozen” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. A Family Fun Day featuring pre-film games and activities. Kids age 12 & under get FREE popcorn. Doors open at 12noon for activities; screening at 1pm. $5.
