George Winston, What Was the First Song You Performed in Public?

“I started playing piano in ’71, and as far as the piano goes, it was probably ‘Skating’ by Vince Guaraldi, which is from the A Charlie Brown Christmas album. Or it could have been ‘Linus and Lucy.’ It’s kind of hard to remember, but it was probably one of those.

“But I actually started playing the organ back in ’67, so on the organ it was probably ‘Come on Up’ by the Young Rascals. That was the first song of set one of the band that I was in at the time.”

Piano man George Winston steps into the spotlight at The Egg’s Swyer Theatre at 7pm on Sunday (March 17). Tickets are on sale now, priced at $36.
