Cellists to Celebrate Bach at Massry Center

The Bach Cello Suites are iconic in classical music – some of those instantly recognizable pieces that resonate with everyone. This summer through the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall these timeless pieces will be brought to life by Zuill Bailey, Pheobe Carrai, Melissa Kraut, and Jennifer Morsches, a group dedicated to the mastery of the masterworks. These four cellists form the faculty of the Bach Cello Suites Workshop, a touring organization that allows local cellists to study the Bach Cello Suites.

Zuill Bailey, the organization’s artistic director, is widely considered one of the premiere cellists in the world (and a 2017 Grammy winner!). He is absolutely engaging both through his music and performance style. All four cellists are internationally celebrated performers with rich chamber music roots. The evening promises exceptional music.

Celebrate the end of their week workshop with music lovers and performers a like at the Picotte Recital Hall at the Massry Center through the College of St. Rose. The event is on August 2nd at 7:30 pm, with general admission tickets at $30. The program promises (of course) the Bach Cello Suites, however it will venture into works inspired by the great JS Bach, truly celebrating the impact of this corner stone composer. Prior to the concert, workshop participants will be sharing some of the pieces they’ve been working on in the lobby, supporting our own rich musical community.
