Stories from A Bar: Episode 21, The Real McCoy Beer Company
Not long ago I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to sit down with Mike Bellini and Mike Schaffer of The Real McCoy Beer Company to talk about their new taproom opening up at the Abner Doubleday House in Ballston Spa. Doubleday, a Union Major General during the Civil War, of course was credited for a long time as the inventor of Baseball which ultimately was proven to be untrue.
As the three of us sat around a table in the 200 year old structure, Bellini talked about how The Real McCoy got started in 2015, how it got its name (hint: sadly not related to the Europop band), and how his partnership with Schaffer to open the new taproom came to be. All of this while also talking about the six beers on tap as I sampled them of course.
Filled with some fun little antidotes about the beers, brewery, and the Mikes themselves, be sure to go back and check out Episode 21 of Stories from A Bar on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Podbean, Stitcher, or Spotify. The Real McCoy is continuing its soft opening this week Wednesday through Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. with the big Grand Opening set for Saturday, Feb 8th at noon. Be sure to stop in for some fantastic beers, hang out for the big ribbon cutting, and enjoy some delicious food from the Fork in the Road food truck.
