John Prine Live Stream Tribute with Warren Haynes, Grace Potter, Norah Jones

John Prine, the legendary folk artist, passed away earlier this week from complications of COVID-19. Prine always delivered his evocative songs with an aw-shucks smile and clever couplets, whether spinning yarns about drug-addled war vets, aging lovers, or childlike wonder.

In recognition of the man and the enduring music he left behind, Consequence of Sound is presenting “Angel from Maywood: A Livestream Tribute to John Prine”.

The live stream will feature cover performances of Prine’s music from “friends, collaborators” and fans including Norah Jones, Kevin Morby, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy and Grace Potter. Also set to appear are The Head and the Heart, John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats, Sara and Sean Watkins of Watkins Family Hour, Lake Street Dive, The Lone Bellow’s Zach Williams, Marcus King, Butch Walker, Valerie June and more.

The tribute stream will begin at 2 pm on CoS’ Instagram page. Per CoS, the stream will honor the wishes of Prine’s wife Fiona by benefiting three charities of her choosing: homeless charities Nashville Rescue MissionRoom in the Inn, as well as Thistle Farms, which helps female victims of human trafficking. Donations will be encouraged throughout the free live stream.
