City of Albany urges Dance/Step Competition Attendees to be Tested for COVID-19

City of Albany Urges Individuals Who Attended Event at Arbor Hill Sports Complex to be Tested for COVID-19

Initial reports indicate an estimated 1,500 individuals, including some who traveled from New York City, gathered for a dance/step competition – a higher-risk sporting activity that is prohibited by Governor Cuomo’s Reopening New York guidance.

Given the nature of the activity that took place and the risk associated with being present at this type of event, the City of Albany, in consultation with the Albany County Health Department, urges anyone who attended this event to be tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible.

COVID-19 tests are available by appointment at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Health Center (920 Lark Drive, Albany) on Monday, September 21 from 8:30am to 10:30am, and Friday, September 25 from 8:30am to 10:30am. Individuals must call (518) 465-4771 to be screened and make an appointment in advance.

Community-wide testing by appointment only continues on the SUNY University at Albany campus for those with or without symptoms. Appointments may be made by calling the New York State hotline at (888) 364-3065 or by visiting the New York State Department of Health website at
