The Beat from Troy Music Hall #36, Ode to Fall
October
October is the treasurer of the year,
Poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar
And all the months pay bounty to her store;
The fields and orchards still their tribute bear,
And fill her brimming coffers more and more.
But she, with youthful lavishness,
Spends all her wealth in gaudy dress,
And decks herself in garments bold
Of scarlet, purple, red, and gold.

The Best Place To Celebrate Fall Is in The North
Southerners can do their best to celebrate the fall season, but ultimately it comes down to the weather. We are lucky to live in a spot were we can experience all four seasons to the fullest.
RIP Eddie Van Halen
Any children of the 80s remember the rock band Van Halen as a huge part of the musical landscape. We were sad to hear of Eddie Van Halen’s passing last week due to throat cancer. This video is a 13 minute solo and truly showcases just how talented he was. RIP Eddie.
His talent has influenced all generations to follow. Check out local musician Moriah Formica’s tribute to him.
Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill
Solsbury Hill is a Peter Gabriel classic. Karen, our Marketing Director, said that her siblings have an ongoing discussion on the meaning of the song. She thinks it’s about someone going through the process of kicking an addiction. Her sisters think it’s about a religious revelation. Peter Gabriel says it was about his decision to leave Genesis. How do you interpret it? This montage of live performances take clips from 1978 through 2013. (Note his Han Solo looking costume – that must have been from the late 70’s/early 80’s.)
Kids Today
Go on a literal musical journey through some of today’s most popular musicals, from classics like Les Miserable, Phantom of the Opera, and Pippin, to more modern musicals like Hamilton and Frozen.
Though young Colin O’Leary is lip synching his heart out in these videos, the real star is Mom. She is completely unflappable.

Tis the Season to Bake Apple Pies
John Bunker is known as “The Apple Whisperer.” Here he educates us on the different variety of apples that he’s cultivated over the years. His apple pie looks pretty good, so if you are feeling inspired and have an abundance of this fruit from a recent apple picking excursion, go ahead and try his recipe.
Pattycake
These French speaking kitties play a mean game of Pattycake. Don’t worry if you can’t speak French, they were kind enough to translate with subtitles. Enjoy!
