The Beat from Troy Music Hall #38, Happy Halloween

Halloween Fun! Two Sentence Horror Stories

  • The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock at the door.
  • The grinning face stared at me from the darkness of my bedroom window. I live on the 14th floor.
  • I wake up and everything feels wrong; it’s too quiet outside. I creep to the window and peer out to see everyone standing still, looking at my house.
  • Yesterday, I figured out how my curse worked. Apparently, only people in danger can read what I type.

From SNL – What Does Your Future Hold?

Saturday Night Live is having a good season! The New York Times interviewed Lorne Michaels, the shows creator, on what it takes to produce a live show during a pandemic. You can read all about it here. Let’s hope they can continue to entertain us throughout the winter.

Can we talk about Adele?!? She was last week’s host and is the woman with the long blonde ponytail in this sketch. We all know she can sing, but who knew she has such good comedic timing?

A Lovely Song for your Saturday Morning

Raul Malo of The Mavericks sings a beautiful version of the Sam Cooke classic “A Change is Gonna Come.” This song is widely considered to be one of Mr. Cooke’s best composition. (If you watch all the way through to the end, you’ll get a reminder that pertains to the video below.)

It’s Up To You New York – VOTE!

This gentleman performs a wonderful public service by serenading a line of New York City early voters, while offering up a helpful reminder – it’s up to us. Vote, Vote, oh, and did we mention, you should VOTE!

Early voting is open, or you can go to your polling place on Tuesday, November 3rd. If you have any questions, please visit the New York State Board of Elections website by clicking here.

What is the Best and Worst Halloween Candy of all Time?

We can’t believe we are on #38 of The Beat and we’ve yet to use a Good Mythical Morning video. Are you all familiar with Rhett and Link? Their YouTube channel is very popular. We recommend you check out any of the videos where they eat ghost peppers, and any video that involves food like “Will It Taco?” Click here to visit their channel.

Dancing Pumpkin Man

This video, believe it or not, has become a YouTube classic. It has reached such status that some people have labeled it the “Greatest Halloween Video in the History of the Internet!”

We don’t quite believe that, but it does have a sort of inexplicable draw – it’s hard to stop watching. If you want, click here to learn the full story, though we think some things are better enjoyed then explained.

A Halloween Video Just For The Children

There is something so pleasant and soothing about these happily dancing fruits and veggies, all dressed up for Halloween. We can imagine the whole family will want to dance along. Enjoy!

Can You Teach A Cat To “Talk”?

This is Billi. She is a female domestic shorthair, she’s 12 years old, and her owner is documenting her attempts to teach her to “speak.” What do you think? Is there an actual thought process going on here, or is it just a random pushing of buttons?
