Any Day Now, I Shall Be Released

I see my light come shiningFrom the west down to the eastAny day now, any day nowI shall be released

“I Shall be Released”, written by Bob Dylan in 1967, was first heard on the album Music From Big Pink by The Band. Like most Dylan songs, it has been covered far and wide. Performers who’ve recorded it include Joan BaezNina SimoneJerry Garcia BandOK GoElvis Presley, and many, many more. Enjoy this version by Rising Appalachia, a six member band founded by sisters Leah and Chloe Smith.

The Sea The Sea is so Lovely

The Sea The Sea Rooftop Concert
We are big fans of this local band that has been getting a lot of national attention lately. This video was shot on the rooftop of our neighbors, the Taak HouseAs the camera travels round you will be able to recognize the Music Hall right behind them.

Friendly Snowy Vintage Warfare

This brief clip is actual footage of a snowball fight from 1897. (That would have been 22 years after the Music Hall opened.) From the NY Times: “The footage was captured in Lyon, in 1897, by the Lumière brothers, who were among the world’s first filmmakers. It was originally black and white, of course, and herky-jerky because of the low frame rate. But this snowball fight has recently been colorized and smoothed, and the result is shockingly modern.” Read all about it here.

Pro Tip – Pre-Soak Your Pasta

We love Sohla because she always has great recipe idea. This looks delicious, and perfect for the cold, winter days ahead. The biggest take-away is the technique of pre-soaking your pasta. We’ve never heard of it, but it makes perfect sense, and you don’t run the risk of draining your pasta before you remember to save some of the magic starchy water.

The Show Must Go On

Animals Enjoying the Fall Bounty

This week we give you animals enjoying the bounty of a fall harvest. It’s amazing to watch how easily the elephants crush those enormous pumpkins!
