The Beat from Troy Music Hall #59, One Year Ago

A Special Message From Jon Elbaum, Executive Director of TSBMH

It’s March already! Where has the time gone? It is hard to believe that it has been almost exactly a year since we’ve been mostly shut down. Few of us could have imagined that this crisis would last that long. And we’ve still got a little way to go. But there is an end in sight, and if we all do the right thing, we’ll be able to enjoy live performances again this fall in our beautiful Music Hall. Over the last year.

I have been absolutely astounded by and profoundly grateful for the support and affection you have shown for us and all of our cultural treasures here in the Capital Region.

We will be back and we want you to come back too! Streaming is great – but live is better!

Onward,
Jon

Passing the Time with Murder Shows

Ummm… some of us feel very seen. We’ve all been spending a lot more time indoors, and Saturday Night Live nails one of our current obsession – murder shows and podcasts. Watch all the way to the end to see the appearance of Joe Jonas as he fuels the obsession with the suggestion of cult shows.

The Wheel – Full Concert

What is the Hall doing during this pandemic? We are still presenting shows, but instead of a live audience, we are live-streaming, straight into your homes! Please enjoy this performance from The Wheel, filmed on our stage last weekend. We present this performance free of charge, but encourage tips if you are so moved!

Is it ok to have Romantic Feelings for Dr. Fauci?

Have you hit the one-year wall? This sums it up nicely.

#JerusalemaChallenge

What’s the rest of the world doing while we wait out this pandemic? Why the #JerusalemaChallenge!

From cloistered Nuns in Dublin to the Swiss Police, filming you and your crew performing this South African wedding dance is the thing to do. It started when Fenómenos do Semba, a dance troupe from Angola, south-west Africa, posted a video of themselves dancing to the song while eating. They did the whole dance without putting down their plates.

You Won’t Grow Scales or Camel’s Hooves

The vaccines are here!
Our staff is excitedly waiting for the time when we’ll be allowed to schedule our vaccination appointments. We encourage you, as does the Marsh family, to “have the new jab” as soon as you are eligible.
