LGD/50 Summer Concert Series Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend in Lake George

The LGD/50 Summer Concert Series kicks off Memorial Day weekend at the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons in Lake George and will feature a number of touring acts over the course of the summer. The “Memorial Meltdown”, as the first weekend is being dubbed starts off  Thursday, May 27 with a performance by up-and-coming jam band, Dogs in a Pile. On Friday, May 28, Pink Talking Fish will perform their unique fusion of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish, with Dogs in a Pile scheduled to return to kick off the evening. Then on Saturday, May 28, Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime will headline the night with a special guest opener to be announced.

In order to produce these events safely during the ongoing pandemic, each of these concerts will feature a “pod” format, where each ticket purchased will include admission for up to 5 people who will occupy their own socially distanced area, or “pod”. In addition, all attendees will be required to show either proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72hrs of the event. Face coverings will also be required at all times but may be temporarily removed while you are eating or drinking in your pod, and all NYS COVID-19  Guidelines will be followed.

According to the event’s promoters, who also produce the Adirondack Independence Music Festival in the same location, the goal of the series is to give people the opportunity to see some great music in a safe environment. The live music industry has been virtually non-existent over the past year due to the ongoing pandemic and the need to limit large gatherings to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. With an increasing number of people getting vaccinated and lower case numbers, the State recently released new guidelines for hosting live entertainment with limited capacities. As of now, the Charles R. Wood Festival Commons is approved to host a 700- capacity crowd, so long as attendees produce proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or negative test taken within 72hrs of the event and social distancing measures and other NYS Guidelines are followed. By instituting the above-mentioned safety measures, and several others, the event’s promoters hope to demonstrate that there is a way to produce live events while still keeping people safe.

Gates for the Memorial Day Weekend shows open at 7 pm on Thursday, with an 8 pm start time and 5 pm on Friday and Saturday, with a 6:30 pm start time. Additional info, including ticket information, can be found at: www.adkmusicfest.com/lgd50
