I was at 2014 (“Funk is making something out of nothing!” excalimed Bootsy), 2012 (Kinky Friedman was brilliant–the songs, stories and jokes and unwavering belief in humanity in the face of the political idiocy of the world), 2011 (one of the greatest outdoor displays of local rock and roll ever ), 1998 (Beausoeil tore it up! I wish GPAC would bring them back, that place used to book some great national acts, often from Louisiana), 1992 (The Holmes Brothers’ epic show–what a cool day to see Albany witness the greatest band of our era play blues, soul, country and gospel in those three-part harmonies), and 1989 (one of the greatest double bills I have ever seen–Duke brought the swinging blues and Big Twist the Chicago soul).
