LIVE: Dr. Dog Sells Out Empire Live, Albany, 09/08/2021

Philadelphia’s Dr. Dog brought their “Last Tour” to Empire Live in downtown Albany for the first officially sold out show at the new venue. For fans of a band who claim that they will no longer tour after this year, the mood in the room was one of celebration. One thousand fans piled into Empire Live, filling the room from front to back. The first notes of “The Breeze” set the crowd in motion. Lit from behind in atmospheric reds and blues, the band, led by Scott McMicken and Toby Leaman, kept the audience dancing through a twenty-five song long set. If they are done touring, they are going out in style and leaving nothing on the stage.

Raleigh, NC-based trio Bowerbirds opened the show with a tight, entertaining forty-minute set of indie-folk. They are touring in support of their latest release, 2021’s BECALMYOUNGLOVERS.
