The Attic Classic: The distinctive voice of singer-songwriter Rob Jonas is a dead giveaway that he was not a long-lost relative to New Jersey via Disney pop music machine The Jonas Brothers. Our L518 Rob Jonas is more in the vein of acoustic roots rock, writing songs inspired by real and imagined struggles of life and love, his observations of the world, and whatever might have been rattling around his head at the time.
As with most solo artists, he began playing at area open mic’s. Indeed, not having the world’s top-class singing voice was more than made up for by his charm, low-stress attitude, and songs that people could relate to immediately.
Through those open mic’s he made connections to other musicians to support him in the recording studio. His first EP, “Wandering Madison” came out in 2007, yielding two songs that earned airplay on local radio and good reviews. His 2009 full-length album follow-up, “Take Me Anywhere,” featured 12 songs, employing a strong collection of local musicians in support, with impressive results.
Our Attic Classic is one of those dozen tracks, the ironically titled “Livin’ The Dream.”
